James “Hutch” Hutchinson was born and raised in Massachusetts. Hutch moved to California’s Bay Area after graduating high school and soon after arriving the Grateful Dead’s Mikey Hart took him under his wing. He later moved to Austin, TX, where he was asked to join the Neville Bros. Band. This connection found him introduced to Bonnie Raitt, whereupon he moved to Los Angeles and joined her band. Hutch has also worked with Brian Wilson, Roy Orbison, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson, to name just a few. He continues to tour the world with Bonnie Raitt. Hutch has his own Spruce Top Acoustic/Electric Signature U-Bass model.
